Why Federated Computer Is Different
Your Data Never Trains Someone Else’s AI.
Big Tech’s AI is built on your data. Ours isn’t allowed to touch it.
The Problem
The Problem With Everyone Else
Every time you use a big AI-powered SaaS tool, you’re trusting a company you don’t control with your emails, your customer records, your source code — and often, that data quietly becomes training material for their next model. You don’t get a say. You may not even get a notice.
How We're Built Differently
Once You Change Your Password, We Can’t See Your Data
There’s nothing “shared” about your Federated Computer install. It’s individually installed and managed, just for you. Once you change your admin password — which we encourage on day one — your data is completely private. We can’t see it. We can’t use it. Not for advertising, not for AI training, not ever, unless you explicitly grant access for a support request.
- 1. Single-Tenant by Default— Every customer runs on isolated infrastructure, protected by industrial-grade firewalls and (optionally) a military-grade VPN via Headscale/Tailscale. Nothing is pooled. Nothing is shared.
- 2. Federated Learning, Not Data Harvesting— When you do want the benefits of collaborative AI — a shared model trained across many businesses — Federated Computer’s federated learning approach means your business trains locally and only sends encrypted model updates. Your raw data physically never leaves your servers.
- 3. MCP, Not a Black Box— Every AI agent that touches your systems does so through a scoped, auditable connection. You can see exactly what an agent can access, and you can revoke any single connection instantly — without breaking anything else.
It’s not uncommon for business software to use your data for their needs. That sort of theft just isn’t possible with Federated Computer.
Compare
Federated Computer vs. Big Tech AI Platforms
| Big Tech AI Platforms | Federated Computer | |
|---|---|---|
| Who sees your data | The platform, by default | No one but you |
| AI training | Often uses your data, opt-out (if offered) | Never uses your data — architecturally impossible |
| Infrastructure | Shared, multi-tenant cloud | Single-tenant, isolated per customer |
| If you leave | Data migration is hard, sometimes impossible | Fully open-source — take it anywhere, or self-host |
